California (AZ, NV) Trip

My mom planned an AMAZING senior trip during the summer of 2011 when I graduated from high school! Sedona, Los Angeles, cruise, Santa Monica, and Las Vegas.

We started off in Sedona, Arizona
. There was the most amazing scenery...and artwork.

These little pigs were all over the city, all painted differently.

Then we went to Los Angeles! Warner Brothers Studios was incredible.
I'm a Gilmore Girls fanatic, so I went crazy seeing the gazebo and other buildings from the show!
Luke's Diner!!
(Also from Gilmore Girls)

A bunch of movie cars like the Mystery Machine and the flying Harry Potter car

And then my favorite part (arguably of the whole trip), was getting to see the sets of Big Bang Theory (no cameras allowed unfortunately) and Friends!!!

DRUM ROLL PLEASE
That's right! My parents and I got to sit on the couch from Friends!
These were checks they used on set in the coffee shop. The actor who played Gunther would write himself reminders like, "give Jennifer a ToGo cup"and "I love you Kimmy!"

We saw a ton of stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

We visited the restaurant that won "America's Next Top Restaurant"
Trip to Beverly Hills:

Then Rodeo Drive:

The owner of this car was the manager of the shop behind it. He has a worker specifically to drive his car to the shop first thing in the morning to get this spot then to feed the meter coins all day.

That's right, a store with my name on it!

One of the many amazing things my mom did for us on this trip was put us up at the Magic Castle Hotel. We even got to go to brunch and some shows at the Magic Castle Club, which was amazing! Again, unfortunately, cameras were not allowed.

Los Angeles tip: The Magic Castle in LA is open to under 21 only on Sundays for brunch.

We went to this really incredible Japanese place for dinner one night. The view and the food were amazing.

Grauman's Chinese Theater:
Petersen Automobile Museum (way cooler than it sounds, I promise!):

Walt Disney Concert Hall:

Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum:
Golden Gate Bridge made of toothpicks

Basketball game completely made of ants...

Another amazing dinner. I'm probably not even spelling it right, but it was at Dar Machreb, a Moroccan place.

I got to dance with the belly dancer!

Next was the Carnival Cruise

We went fishing at Santa Catalina. It was mostly catch and release, but we brought a few of them to a local restaurant and ate them for lunch!

Mom and I learned how to make some of the towel animals!

Next phase of our trip: Santa Monica

Yes, that is a dinosaur water fountain.

My dad and I learned to surf!

And I got back on the flying trapeze for the first time since I was little. On the Santa Monica Pier. At sunset.
It's the outside of the high school from Grease! It's a real high school!

Santa Monica tip: There are quirky little famous spots like this all over California. Look some up online before going!

A few hours at the Ronald Reagan Library:

Yes, that is an elephant.

Pretend podium for pictures and part of the Berlin Wall

Final stop, Las Vegas

The Miracle Mile: all indoors. The sky is painted.

M&M World:
Las Vegas tip: Spend a good deal of time exploring the hotels along the Strip. They're gorgeous, and it's absolutely free!
Bellagio Hotel:

All of this is INSIDE the hotel.

The World's Largest Chocolate Fountain

Paris Hotel:
This is just the buffet. Each of those buildings is a food station. So much food at all of these buffets...I'm surprised I was able to ever eat again.

Caesar's Palace:

We saw three shows: The Mentalist, Popovich Comedy Pet Theater, and a Las Vegas show

The pirate ship used in Miss Congeniality

Goodbye, Las Vegas!

Final buffet in Las Vegas. The dessert was so amazing, I just had to take a picture!

Thank you so much, Mom and Dad, for my amazing graduation trip. I know I'll never forget it, and I am so glad I got to spend it with you two. I love you both so much.
Love, Olivia
