St. Louis/Chicago

Spring and summer 2015, I had several visitors, which gave me the opportunity to be a super-tourist in St. Louis and Chicago! Part I is Nicole and me in St. Louis and Chicago for spring break and St. Patrick's Day. Part II is Toren and me in St. Louis for my birthday.

PART I: NICOLE IN ST. LOUIS AND CHICAGO

For Spring Break senior year, Nicole and I decided to head to stay with my parents then my uncle's family to explore St. Louis and see Chicago for St. Patrick's Day!

We started off in ST. LOUIS!

First we went with my mom to explore the St. Louis Zoo

That night, we had a wonderful dinner at the Melting Pot with my parents. Not exactly local, but still a family favorite!

The next day, my dad took Nicole and me to the Anheuser-Busch brewery for a tour.
And my mom took us to Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate chocolate factory!

We then headed to CHICAGO!

We spent a lot of time on the train between my uncle's house and the city.

After grabbing some much-craved Chick-fil-a (with a giant line that we got through at a breakneck speed), we headed off to the Art Institute of Chicago

The next day, we did some major exploring of the city! We hit The Bean...

...Navy Pier...

...and saw lots of green things.

That night we hopped around a few bars to listen to music and drink green beer.

After much planning and little bit of freezing, it was finally ST. PATRICK'S DAY! We were ready for the day.

We started off watching the dyeing of the river. I had assumed the pictures were exaggerated, but they're not: the river really turns bright green right in front of your eyes.

We then headed over to watch the parade.

Our last stop in Chicago was at the Irish American Heritage Center to watch some performances and grab food.

As a quick stop on the way back to school, Nicole and I went to Metropolis, IL, for a picture with the giant Superman statue

PART II: TOREN IN ST. LOUIS

For my 22nd birthday, Toren came to visit me from Georgia for a bit of time in St. Louis. There were some repeats from Nicole's visit, but it was still a ton of fun!

For my birthday dinner, we went to the Melting Pot with my parents! Yes, again. Like I said, a family favorite.

The next day, we went to one of the most awesome and exhausting places in all of St. Louis: City Museum

It's basically a giant playground for adults. Kids are everywhere, as well, but it's not flimsy little equipment. You're climbing and sliding and getting lost and stuck all over the place, and it is complete with a 10 story slide.

Then we went up the Arch...

...and on an Anheuser-Busch brewery tour...

...then to Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate

The last morning of his visit, we went with my parents to the beautiful Vin de Set for brunch.

Bye bye, Toren!!
